Circumcision is a procedure to remove the foreskin from the penis. While some new parents choose to have this procedure performed on their new baby boy, others do not. There is no absolute medical necessity for this procedure although some studies suggest decreased transmission of sexual infections in circumcised men. Overall, the procedure is safe with the most common complications being bleeding (less than 1%). If you would like your baby boy circumcised our doctors can perform the procedure while you are in the hospital, often on the day after the baby is born. Some insurance plans do not cover circumcision. Ask our office staff if your insurance covers this procedure.
